It's been an insane couple of weeks around here, launching my {life as art} Lighting Workshops and just dealing with kids and summer and shooting wedding after wedding. I'll be posting more about all of this over the next few weeks.

But in the meantime, I just realized how incredibly behind I am on posting client sessions. So in an effort to get caught up, here is a wonderful bridal. This couple has just been so fantastic to work with: incredibly in-love, fun, sweet and gorgeous to boot!

Well, I have so many sessions to post, so thought that I would get started here! These were amazingly fun bridal photos with K & N. They have just been so wonderful to work with and LOVED how their photos turned out.

Wow! I really have been a bad blog mommy. I have to blame it all 100% on my {life as art} Lighting Workshop that launched last weekend. I've done nothing other than eat, sleep and dream lighting workshop for the last several months. But the workshop was fabulous and I now have a lot of catching up to do!

So to celebrate having launched the new lighting workshop, let's do a fantastic Flourish Emporium sale. Go to and enter this coupon at checkout and receive an additional 25% off your entire purchase.

Wow! I think that this is my best sale ever on Flourish, so don't miss out! This sale will run until Sunday, June 30th.

And just a little teaser shot from the workshop last weekend . . . . . the torrential weather just added to the drama of all the images, haha! More to come!

Thanks so much to everyone for your patience with my announcement of the contest winner. To determine a winner, we brought everyone's entry into a spread sheet and then verified how many entries you received based on your postings. We then used to generate a number. And the winner is . . . .

Katrina of! Congrats, Katrina. I'll be emailing you about your prize, but if you see this before you receive my email, don't hesitate to email me.

Thanks again to everyone who entered. And never fear. I have many more contests planned, so there will be more opportunities to win!

Also, as a sidenote, if you've been interested in attending my Lighting Workshop, be sure to check the website. Due to shuffling of attendees and such, I currently have at least one opening in each of my Lighting Workshops, even workshops that were previously sold out!

I've been hard at work developing the Lighting Workshop for the past 6 months and it promises to be amazing. So come and learn how to create your own amazing light in every photo, regardless of the time of day you shoot.

Well, if you're like me, you might be dreading the summer months. Not only is it miserably hot, but the wedding season really heats up around here. That means long hot days shooting in full sun, every weekend a workday and my kids on break from school and bored out of their minds. I can't wait! So in an attempt to lift my spirits, I've come up with some fun stuff on Flourish Emporium!

First of all, I have to keep telling myself that being busy is a good thing, right? Well, as long as you can keep on top of it all. Managing your digital workflow and cutting down on editing time can really help. That’s why I’ve decided to offer a first-ever sale on my Workflow Action Set. From now until May 28th I will be selling the Workflow Action Set for $85 (regularly $99). Combine that with a 10% off coupon code good for anything at Flourish (see below) and you can own the workflow set for $76.50. The beauty of the Workflow Action Set is its ability to automate repetitive tasks, allowing you to make edits to multiple photos at one time. Automating your workflow can save you hours in front of your computer, so you can spend more time in the hot sun taking pictures! You can read more about the Workflow Action Set here:

If you are a Lightroom or ACR user, you may also want to take a look at the Proofing Presets, which allow for fast, beautiful proofing of client images in both color and black and white. The Proofing Presets are currently on sale for $49 ($44.10 with the coupon). Read more about the Proofing Presets here:

Also, for the next 2 weeks everything on Flourish is 10% off. Just go to and enter the code

at checkout.

And of course I can’t leave you without mentioning my {life as art} Professional and Lighting workshops. I just wrapped up a professional workshop in beautiful Orlando, FL! But if you missed that workshop don’t worry. I have more scheduled for the summer and fall. Find out more at And don’t forget that anyone can now attend the Lighting workshops, so if you want to learn more about taking shots like this one below, be sure to check out the lighting workshops.

Finally, if you are looking for a great workshop experience without the travel then be sure to check out my {life as art} Workshop in a Box. Use the code

for $50 off your Workshop in a Box purchase (good until May 28th). Check it out at

Okay, but my best news is a huge giveaway. To help me get over my summer heat blahs, I'm giving away EVERYTHING on my Flourish Emporium site. That's right, folks, the winner of this contest will receive a DVD in the mail with every single product on my Flourish site on it. Everything! That's nearly $1200 worth of products for free! How's that for a little summer pick-me-up?

So how do you enter to win?
  • You can leave a reply in the comments to this blog post to receive 1 entry into the contest.
  • Receive 5 entries into the contest by bragging about any nicholeV site and linking to me on your blog or your Facebook page or Twitter (you get the idea) and then link me to your link in a comment to this blog post. Note that your link needs to be publicly accessible to me so I can verify it.
  • Receive 10 entries into the contest by posting an image edited using nicholeV products and again giving me a shout-out and a link back to one of my websites. Link me to your image by commenting on this blog post and again, your link needs to be publicly accessible to me so I can verify it.
Yeah, that's a total of 16 entries that you could get into this contest! Note that the links you post back must date after this blog post (sorry, no digging up old links, though I love you for having linked me in the past, haha). This contest ends on May 19th at midnight MST.

Yay! Don't hesitate to email me if you have any questions!

Happy shooting!

Whew! Back from lovely sunny Florida. We had an amazing workshop down there and I will be posting images from the workshop within the next week or so. In the meantime, I have so many sessions to catch up on!

This is an engagement session I did right before leaving for Florida. K & N were so much fun and such an adorable couple together! Just couldn't get enough of them. So bear with me, as there are a lot of images, haha!

Well, heading out the door to my {life as art} Workshop in Orlando, FL tomorrow morning. I have sessions to post here and lots of good news, but just no more time tonight, haha. But thought that I would at least blow everyone a kiss goodbye!

So I've been patiently waiting for spring to arrive around here, but it's been sooooooo slow to come this year. The snow is almost gone up here, but now we're expecting more snow with a storm blowing in tomorrow. Sigh. Spring and green will come at some point, right?! So instead of moaning and complaining about things that I can't control, I've just decided to embrace it. Well, or at least make the best of it, haha.

So with the last storm that came in last week, I dragged my sweet daughter outside for a quick session. The clouds and fog had settled in over us, so it was deliciously moody.

A few shots . . . .

This couple was so much fun! They've been married for several years and wanted to get some headshots for business purposes, but also just wanted to have some fun photos of the two of them together. So we headed out to the desert and managed to even find some old train cars. The wind was terrible and it was surprisingly cold, but they hung in there! Thanks S. & R. for several hours of laughter and craziness!
